I've started doing

instead of just thinking about it. The top section is stamped to create pieces with pattern. The other pieces are screen printed to create shapes.

I just need to wait for the paint to dry so I can start cutting....

Blackbird in my Garden

This is my first sample quilt.  Small - 9 x 10 inches.  There will be colour eventually and I have no idea whether there will be other birds or just black birds.
Black Bird in My Garden

He is woodblock - my very first one! I'm so pleased he worked.  I made him fro a photo I took in our new garden - my hard drive died just before Christmas and I've lost the photo! Bugger!

I think this is the way I'm heading.

Ideas I'm Playing With

eThese are the ideas I am playing with.  The purple bird is a woodcut (he won't be purple).  The little framed pieces are gelatine plate prints and the other two are prints cut from erasers.
For some reason blackbirds are at the top of my mind at moment.  It could be because we have blackbirds in our new garden.  We haven't seen a blackbird for several years!  I love them.  They are raucous and forward but they are real characters.

This is the beginnings of a small sample quilt, just to see if the concept works!

I'd love some feedback!

Oops, I nearly forgot to say, Hi Robin!

Some Hawaiian Inspiration

I'm taking a break from being a mature, responsible adult and spending a some time in Hawaii with my DSIL. While sampling the local cuisine and breweries, I have found some inspiration that I thought I'd share.

I have written to the Special Exhibits people at Houston about sizes/numbers/deadlines etc but haven't heard back yet. Will let you know when I do.

Wendy has also sent me some pics of her exhibition in situ.

I'm nearly home!

I've made it back to Hobart and I should be back home in about an hour.  I've been at work since 10am and I really can't concentrate.  At about 2 this morning I had a brainwave for my quilt!  Do you think I can remember what it was?  No!  I think it had something to do with Lisa's garden but I'm not sure.

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome!  I learnt a lot!

Back to wracking my brain!

Paint

I think these are the paints that I did the writing on my collage quilt. They are called Tulip Slicks I think. Has anyone seen them here in Aus?
